| 15-05-08 / 00:05 : OppenOffice.org Aqua beta 3 / Cocoa (cjed) | Macnn provides a short review of OppenOffice.org 3 beta for OSX. This version is being ported to Cocoa (was in alpha state in September, 2007) and the final version is expected September, 2008 (the announced transition duration was of one year). The previous versions of OppenOffice.org were based on Carbon. On the NeoOffice side, despite being older (was out more than 5 years ago), it uses the Java/Cocoa bridge. However Apple recently announced that this bridge is deprecated. So it would have to be rewritten in Objective-C.
The previous versions of OppenOffice.org Aqua were even worse and slower than NeoOffice, so we hope the beta status is the indication of better performances. | | | Comments | | Write a comment | |
