Roland presented during the NAMM 2010 the V-Combo VR-700, a 76 keys stage keyboard : Virtual Tone Wheel and COSM for organs, and 128 Mb of ensemble instruments samples (88-key multi-sampled pianos, EP, strings, choirs brass, basses, synth pads, etc.). The polyphony is illimited for the organ part, and of 128 voices for the samples part. It also includes 51 rhythms, and audio backtracks can be added from USB.

YellowTools offers until February, 15, the Rock Trio samples selection (drums, electric bass, guitar&power chord samples taken from Independance Pro and rock targeted) for each Download Instrument purchase. Among new download parts we also find Jazz Trio (drums, bass and piano, targeted to Jazz music). Finally Independance Pro 2.5 Suite is still offered starting 100 euros Donwload Instruments purchase.

Akai announced the iPK25, a keyboard (host) for iPhone, fitted with audio outputs, and that works with SynthStation application for iPhone. The later provides 3 instruments (based on 3 oscillators) and drum kits. A video is available here.

Spectrasonics announced 64 bits update to Omnisphere and Trilian on Snow Leopard (beta versions, the final updates will be available by a month). Moreover 32 bits systems (Leopard or Snow Leopard started in 32 bits kernel mode for compatibility reasons) can also access to more than 4Gb of memory, thanks to a new Sample File Server, an external process (same trick as Kontakt 3.5 Memory Server).
Finally an iPhone application, Omni Live, will be provided for free at the AppStore. It will work as a remote controller for Live Mode, and then allow easy presets selection.

MOTU announced Ethno Instrument Version 2, an evolution (forward compatible with first version) that brings samples size to 21 Gb (from 8 Gb).
New instruments include taiko drums, large African drums, thirty new instruments from India, hundreds of urban India loops (in they style of Slumdog Millionaire), Balkanish voices, Arabic voices, Persian voices, an extensive new collection of gongs and bells, extended cymbalum…
Microtuning presets can be applied to any instrument.
Moreover the UVI engine is now 64 bits and is compatible with Snow Leopard. It will be priced 395$, and an upgrade path will be provided for Ethno 1 owners.

The 9.1 update to Logic Pro 9 brings support for 64 bits, notably for third-party plugins (the EXS24 still managed more than 4 Gb of memory - as well as Kontakt -, through an external process). To enable it, the 32 bits mode has to be unchecked from the application's Informations panel. The 64 bits mode leads however to some restrictions.
