08-05-08 / 15:13 : History of physics in games (cjed) | The site gamecarreerguide provides an interesting article about the evolution of physics (gestion des collisions, des déformations de l'environnement, de la propagation en cascade des événements) from early video games (notably Donkey Kong) to recent games (Half Life 2, and the so much expected Star Wars: The Force Unleashed) and dedicated processors (Ageia). They also deal with 2D, 2.5D and 3D engines (but not so much a link with the main subject, appart the fact that 2.5D engines - Doom, Dark Forces, Marathon - used sprites instead 3D models, so the interactions allowed were limited).
