04-20-06 / 12:04 AM : Authoring rights : the rules (cjed) |
Musique-libre reported an abusive use by France 2 of a song under creative commons nd licence, and other similar affairs in Europe, that always lead in favor of the author. The rules are : commercial use requires express demand to the artist (and eventually remuneration depending on the media audience). The later decides the use time accorded and does not give any permanent right. In all cases, songs should not be modified (cut, loops) and author name must be precised. |

04-14-06 / 12:40 AM : SheepShaver : Classic on all macs (cjed) |
Macbidouille provides an article about SheepShaver, a Classic emulator aimed at all PowerPC macs (will soon be compatible with Intel based macs !) It can emulate a PowerMac9500 running in OS9. We can hope a performance drop factor of 5 (that is enough with recent PowerPC G4/G5). However it seems not performing well for games, and leads to crashes, notably with audio. |

04-14-06 / 12:30 AM : Anandtech : macbook pro & Parallels VMM (cjed) |
As mentioned Macbidouille, the site Anandtech provides an incredibly detailed review of the macbook pro : no less than fifteen aspects analysed, and notably the use of Windows applications through the beta of Parallels Workstation (VMWare like). Then, direct access from OSX is as fast (and sometimes faster !) than booting in XP. However, for the emulator to work, particular peripherals must be managed (drivers needed). We are also waiting for informations about games performances. |

04-05-06 / 11:17 PM : Apple : About Camp on XP (cjed) |
After hackers worked hard these last months to run Windows XP on Intel Macs (with success, but without graphic acceleration), Apple makes the surprise and unveils a beta of Boot Camp, a Windows XP installer that brings drivers for 3D video cards and audio cards. The utility has another interest, it can create new partitions on the booting volume, without having to erase existing one (OSX partition). So Apple stock is back to up (+9%), it was the secret response from Apple to wait for desktop Intel macs. |

Lot of thanks to composers from soundsonline forum for having made nice comments on my song HornStack Epic. Moreover their skill is incredible : Good bye from Roberto (alias Beach), Song for Reynald by Ecliptic, The slavemaster from Frakir. And finally an orchestration made by Dinosound of a famous waltz from Emil Waldteufel, The Skater's Waltz. It is impressive how SO Gold Pro XP can sound ! |
