19-05-06 / 13:02 : Creative : Apple strikes back the looser (cjed)
This week the small mp3 portable players manufacturer Creative (value of less than 500 M$, whereas Apple has 9 billions in cash - not mentioning its value...) sued the later about a patent, surprinsingly desposited last summer, 5 years after the introduction of the first ipod...
Even without considering the fact that with this patent all music softwares are illegal, we must remind the column based navigation system inherited from MacOSX (2000), that came from NextStep (late 80's), and even from the Appe Lisa (1982) !
The true reason is that Creative needs money : its share lost 25 percents last three months (ipod success is lasting long), so they need attention and cash to try to catch up with the leader. The problem for them is that they will lose in every case : through bankrupkt if Apple decides to make the procedure last, or after the lawsuit Apple deposited some days after against Creative, saying Creative violated 4 of Apple's patents.

Even when looking at this picture from a Creative player, the copy of ipod photo interface is obvious. But finally, most important is, as Microsoft has a lot of problems trying to copy the first MacOSX user interface from 2000, Creative can't catch up in terms of design, software and audio quality for its portable players.
