| Microsoft provides an update to Office 2004. It allows to read and write Office 2008 mac (or Office 2007 Windows) formats, and also Office XML (if the converter has been installed). |

| A team made of an old Apple engineer (now at Adobe) and the leader of SWT, plans to port Eclipse (3.5 version) on Cocoa, for 2009. The main task is to port SWT (uses Carbon) to Cocoa. Then Eclipse would be 64 bits compatible on OSX (Carbon doesn't support it anymore), what Adobe is interested in, as its FlexBuilder IDE is based on Eclipse. We can read on this blog the tricks used to call easily Objective-C from Java, what will allow a faster conversion process. |

| Besides SproutCore, some Apple engineers developed another javascript based web rich client framework, Cappuccino, also inspired from Objective-C and Cocoa. We can try a stunning demo application, 280slides, that allows to create presentations, with themes, medias, all that online with save, publish and export (to Powerpoint format) features. |

| Firefox 3 RC3 is available here. It is a little faster (5%) than Safari 3.1 for javascript, but far more slower than Safari 4 developer preview (whose performances will even be better after the next year optimizations). The final version of Firefox 3 is due to June, 17. |
