 Musikhaus Thomann made a promo (50% save) on a refurbished version of EastWest/Quantum Leap Symphonic Orchestra Gold (Colossus comes with orchestral samples from the Silver version of EWQL SO, wich are not the same quality).These are 15 Go of samples that cover all kind of orchestral instruments. No piano however (then Collosus would be a good complement, as for other instruments : drums, guitars, ethnic stuff, organs, choirs). For now we will see if SO gold can catch up with the Roland SRX06 Complete Orchestra of my XV (only 64 Mo). Perhaps il will have to add extra ram and an external firewire disk. The 1,25 Ghz G4 should be able to manage the virtual instrument, as i doubt il will need more than the 8 instruments allowed by a sole instance ok Kompakt player. Well, at least it is possible to make a freeze of some tracks, to free up some ressources. I would appreciate a powerful mactel to make all of this run quietly ! The demos Reviews at audiofanzine s |

| The second part of the cycle started with Bookpage in 1994 is in a pre writing stage (just ideas caught on the paper, and a few complete paragraphs). I've found the way and the mean to deal with sociological questions. This project was nearly there two years ago but i was unsure of the best way to deal with it, i hesitated between a novel and a more academic approach. A novel is more diverting, and so allows complex ideas to be assimilated more easily. However i decided to go further than Robert Silverberg in The World inside. It is true that i dispose of more informations that he had to reach this goal. |

| This anticipation novel was written in 1994 and consists of 33 chapters, for a total of 330 pages. As for a first try there is an evident lack of vocabulary and details on environment and characters thoughts. Dialogs are not so good. However in the second part of the book the story line goes better, with multiple angles, imbricated stories. The chapters will be available as audio books (Quicktime format, with a text track also, in the first chapter for now). Th voice (mine) has been reworked (in realtime) with the Lexicon MPX's pitchshifter (3 octaves down !) to obtain a warm tone. However it can somewhat sound a bit artificial. Chapter 1 |
