07-31-06 / 06:45 PM : FrontRow/Powerpoint from K750i (cjed)
Macbidouille presents two HID descriptors developped by a reader, that allow to remote control Front Row and Powerpooint from a Sony-Ericsson K750i phone (using bluetooth). The install consists in droping the files in the internal memory folder, at the root of the filesystem, through the MacOSX bluetooth files exchange application. Once installed, the remote applications are available on the phone via the Entertainment-->Remote navigation.
A good alternative to Saling Clicker (not free) shareware.

A preview version of Skype including video support for mac is available here. As Gizmo, Skype uses a proprietary (and undocumented) protocol... So it should be restricted to conferences involving Windows users, as iChat AV is far more better under OSX (better video quality, up to 4 video streams, etc.). However Skype and Gizmo interfaces are well done on OSX compared to Windows versions.

That is without mentioning Intel upgrades, even for soldered Intel processors from Intel MacBooks.

Macosrumors sources say Mac Pro (that will be unveiled next month) will be far more faster than PCs fitted with the same processors (under Windows), thanks to optimizations co-developped with Intel. On another side MacOSX 10.5 would have benefited with incredible optimizations, also thanks to Intel (last compilers). Indeed, with its hardware and software skills, and easier way to builld on last technology (no compatibility restrictions), Apple should be able to put Microsoft to shame.
