| Here is a site that provides links to free GM Soundfont libraries that can replace the QuickTime musical instruments (settings through QuickTime preferences), some of these weight hundreds of Mb. We can then find .kar files there for french songs or here for international songs (see also this FAQ - targeted for PC). On mac Qmidi allows to send Midi messages to an external Midi interface (only internal musical instruments or Soundfont with QuickTimePlayer). |

| It appears that the 10.5.2 update also brings back the Dock folders browse in list view (popup menu), a feature that had been removed from the final version of Leopard. Moreover when can choose to display the elements as stacks instead of list view (and this time with more than a level of depth). |

| In this thread from NI forums we learn that the Kontakt 3 library, 33 Mb instead of the K2 15Mb library, contains all the K2 samples except 3 Gb. Moreover the instruments layout has been completely reworked (six instruments families). Kontakt 3 can read K2 samples but not the other way. We can then either keep a part of the K2 library (the K2 exclusive samples) and migrate projects to K3 (required if we supress the K2 duplicate samples, for example all VSL samples, that 7,5 Gb) - we also have to add the path to the K2 library in K3 and rebuild its samples databasee -, or keep all K2 samples and an instance of K2 for old projects. The K3 update from Kontakt 1 or 2 is priced 149$ (less expensive than the crossgrade, that corresponds to an update from a third party library bundled Kontakt or Kompakt). |

However it doesnt't fix the EasWest libraries registration problem (Kontakt 2 continues to state that they aren't registered). A 2.2.5 update should be out next soon. The ratification should proceed January, 2008.To remember, Firewire advantages over USB (3 included) and eSATA are : peer to peer transfert mode, uses very less processor resource (close to zero), provides power to external peripherals (hard drives, etc.), greater reliability and usual speed very closer to theoric speed. |

| Macworld provides a review of Colin McRae Rally Mac. Finally it seems very well done : realistic weather effects, dramatic lighting and a really broad color palette being used to great effect. You can see trees swaying in the breeze or watch leaves falling or snow blowing by; see the piercing gleam of headlights, or sun reflected in the windscreen of your rally racing car. We can download a demo version (342 Mo) very fastly at ludomac. The game is compatible with Intel & PPC (G4&G5 at 1,6 Ghz and video card fitted with 64 Mb). However when launching on a G4 MDD 1,25 Ghz with Radeon 9000 Pro 64 Mb it says the graphic card isn't compatible. |

The creator of first Deus Ex, Warren Spector, won't be part of it, and explains in this interview the reasons and his feelings. It took more than an hour on the 1,25Ghz G4 to render the 50 seconds (the antialiasing has been turned off to fasten the rendering of the 750 frames). |
