02-28-08 / 10:44 PM : GeForce 8800GT / Radeon HD2600 XT benchs (cjed)
Macworld provides comparative benchs of Radeon HD2600 XT card versus GeForce 8800GT in a 8 core 2,8 Ghz MacPro. The 8800GT is 41% faster in Doom 3 at 1024*768, and 3 times faster (300%) at 1600*1200. In Quake 4 performances are close at 1024*768 (this game probably uses more the CPU than the GPU), but the 8800GT remains 2 times faster at 1600*1200. In old games like UT2004, optimised for ATI cards, the 8800GT doesn't bring gains, whatever the frequency.
